Market
Watch by Pat
Grain markets
have been on quite a roller coaster this past month. We have seen some
high days and then wonder why we have the low days too. Seems like all it
takes is a rumor about rain and it goes down. They need to take a ride
through the country, and then go back to the trading floor.
At some point
you need to start thinking about contracting some new crop to cover your
spring expenses. My suggestion is to contract as the market is going up
and average your price.
For the past
month, we have gained 14 cents on corn and 30 on beans.

Louie's Comments
·
Keep an eye on your cornfields for clipped silks. Japanese
Beetles and Corn Rootworm Beetles have been hard at work in some areas.
·
We have Asset on our test plot this year (which is in one of
the driest areas on south Tamarack!) Louie and Bill Beechy from Helena
have been monitoring the progress bi-monthly. You can really see a
difference in the Asset-treated field! Asset has been applied to
approximately 6,500 corn acres in the neighborhood.
·
Array has been our new AMS additive this year. It also does
many different things. We have had many growers try Array this past season
with tremendous success. Do you have any comments about Array? Please let
us know.
·
We changed from Zinc to a new corn starter additive this
year. Trafix ZM contains Zinc, Asset & Manganese. How did you like it?
Please tell us!
· We
changed from Zinc to a new corn starter If we continue this dry, hot
weather, you need to look at your soybean fields for spider mites. They
start at the edges of the field and work their way to the center in a
circular pattern, browning the beans.
